Justin Roiland faces charges of domestic violence and, in his worst case, faces seven years behind bars.
The channel adult swim therefore severed the business relationship with the co-creator and main speaker of Rick and Morty, so that the title roles are recast.
Anyone wanting to watch future seasons of the sci-fi animated series Rick and Morty starring the original English cast will have to jump into a parallel universe, because Justin Roiland, who voiced both Rick and Morty, is out.
As Deadline reports, adult swim severed its business ties with the co-creator of the cartoon series as he faces charges of domestic violence in court.
This only became known in mid-January, but has been running since 2020 and had previously been kept under wraps.
Roiland was charged with assault causing serious injury, imprisonment by threat, use of force and fraud/deception.
Three years ago, he was ordered to pay $50,000 bail and was ordered not to approach or contact the accused person and to turn in firearms in his possession.
