In April 1970, Paul McCartney officially left the band The Beatles and released his first solo album.
In doing so, he marked the end of a long period of growing estrangement from John Lennon, George Harrison and Ringo Starr.
Two years ago, the documentary series “The Beatles – Get Back” impressively showed how difficult the step must have been for McCartney – for a long time he was the one who wanted to keep the band together.
A new documentary will now deal with the time in McCartney's life that came after the breakup.
The film, titled Man on the Run, is set to be, according to director Morgan Neville, the "definitive document of Paul's reemergence after the breakup of the world's greatest band" and his "triumphant accomplishment of a second decade of musical milestones."
The focus should be on the love between McCartney and his wife Linda.
According to the director, archive material and new interviews that have never been seen before will be shown.
Morgan Neville won an Oscar in 2014 for his documentary 20 Feet from Stardom about female backing singers in popular music history.
He describes himself as a »Beatles maniac«.
