(ANSA) - ROME, FEBRUARY 19 - Electric cars cost significantly more than petrol ones, and the costs of repairs in the event of an accident are also higher.

For a "full tank", however, less than half is spent compared to petrol, but allows you to travel fewer km.

The data is being supplied today by consumer associations and those of coachbuilders, who are calculating after the ban on polluting cars introduced by the EU starting in 2035. According to a survey by Codacons, the average expense to buy a petrol-powered city is now between 14,750 euros and 16,800 euros;

for a small car you spend between 16,870 and 27,300 euros.

For the same types of cars, but with electric power supply, spending soars from 23,000 to over 30,000 euros for the city car, and between 30,000 and 37,000 euros for a small car,

up to 200 thousand euros for a luxury electric car or sports car.

Assoutenti instead points out the cost differences on the front of electric car recharges.

"A "fill up" of energy for an electric car at the columns installed in the area today costs on average between 19 and 39 euros, depending on the speed of recharging and the operator chosen, and allows you to travel between 240 and 320 km. 50-litre petrol now costs around 93 euros but allows you to travel more than double the distance: between 650 and 750 km".

Finally, Federcarrozzieri, the association of Italian body shops, underlines how today repairing a new generation electric car can cost "even 46% more than a petrol car" due to the higher costs for spare parts, labour,

consumables (paints and related), additional costs.

Taking for example two cars of the same brand (Volkswagen), one petrol-powered (Golf MY 2020) and one electric (ID.3) which suffered damage from a frontal impact, Federcarrozzieri notes that in the first case the cost for the repair amounts to around 5,298 euros .

For the same damage, the cost for an electric car rises to 7,732 euros, due to longer and more complex repair procedures and higher costs for spare parts and electronics.
