It is hard to think of an actress who plays a character far from her, at least in terms of political opinions, such as the case of Sara Vino-Elad and Meira, the woman in whose shoes she steps into the series "East Side".

So you thought: This is the moderator who will present "People"
Kaan 11's new suspense drama, which will be broadcast tonight (Sunday), brings its viewers together with the explosive reality of East Jerusalem, with the issue of the land trade in the neighborhood and with the prevailing tensions in the area.
Mayra is the chairperson of an association that buys land in the area for the purpose of Judaism, a religious woman, who has very little in common with the actress.

"I'm not affiliated with anything politically. Politics for me is boring," she says.
"There is no honesty in it. I am not interested in any political party, I am interested in people. And as a human being, I myself would not engage in fraudulently buying people's properties. People who by the very act of selling (to Jews) put themselves and their families in danger. But dealing with This character, her motivations and actions, to me is a gift.
"I have to say that when I was on set I was terrified. Filming in the Old City of Jerusalem is stressful. To have a shooting day canceled at Fordys because the night before we were supposed to film there were shots and people were killed - it's very stressful."
What connected you to her anyway?
"One sentence did it in an absolute way: she says that everything she does is basically continuing her lover's path. He was murdered near one of the houses he tried to 'redeem', in quotation marks, that's what they call it, and she is actually continuing his path in a very masculine world. She finds herself at the head of an organization that has to do the most complex manipulations to achieve the goal. This is her memorial enterprise."
Did you know this subject before you posed for the series? Most people are not really familiar with this aspect of the conflict.
"I didn't know that the methods I was exposed to in this series were being used: blackmail, threats, manipulations, lies. I never understood how people manage to buy properties in East Jerusalem."
Elad stars in the series along with names like Yehuda Levy, Jamil Khoury and Shlomi Koriat.
The subject it deals with and the nature of the series will remind many of another series that focuses on the complex dynamics between the two nations.
"It's for the theorists, I really don't know," she says regarding the obvious comparison to "Fauda".
"I hope that this series will reach people's hearts and that they will open their eyes, ears and hearts, and see this place that we don't want to look at. I understand why it is not easy to look, but it is appropriate that we do it with courage. Maybe it will bring us understanding and a desire to change."

It can be said that "East Side" is emerging in a particularly explosive period.
"This issue is always explosive. I think this is what they want us to feel, and these manipulations no longer work on me. They just want us to feel it now more than ever. Only we can change it."
