As user @avrile94 shows, the packet of butter is simply pricked in the middle with a fork.

Important here: The fold should be on the plate, i.e. at the bottom.

Then you turn the stick of butter over, take it in your hand and basically fold it lengthwise.

Butter is usually wrapped in paper, which is coated - regardless of whether it is the normal sized variant (photo) or the mini format.
