(ANSA) - MOSCOW, FEBRUARY 22 - The head of the Wagner mercenary group, Russian oligarch Yevgeny Prigozhin, has urged Russia to put pressure on the army to supply its fighters with ammunition.
An unprecedented appeal that highlights the extent of the tensions between the mercenaries and the Russian general staff.
"If every Russian at his level -- without calling anyone to protest -- would just say 'Give Wagner the ammunition,'" he said.
Prigozhin has been attacking Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu for days, saying that 'he was no longer supplying ammunition and his troops are suffering enormous losses'.
And he accused him of being a 'traitor'.
