(ANSA) - TEL AVIV, MARCH 08 - The translator Olga Dalia Padoa, who had been contacted by the Israeli embassy in Rome, refused to interpret Prime Minister Benyamin Netanyahu in his speech scheduled for tomorrow in the Synagogue in Rome.
"After a long reflection - you wrote on Facebook and then confirmed by telephone to ANSA - I decided to refuse. Not only do I not share the political views of the premier but I also think that your leadership of him is extremely dangerous".
Padoa therefore referred to the "civil resistance movement present today in Israel" with the protests that have been going on for weeks against the judicial reform presented by the Netanyahu government.
But there is one more reason that finally convinced her after she had initially accepted the job: the outright rejection of her three children.
"They were adamant: don't collaborate with those who promote fascist principles and repress freedom, just don't. I decided to listen to them. In our group of translation professionals - concluded Olga Dalia Padoa - I received a lot of solidarity and support".
