(ANSA) - BRUSSELS, MARCH 14 - Long-term contracts to facilitate the development of renewables and protect consumers from the volatility of the price of gas which affects the price of electricity.
These are the pillars of the proposal to reform the European electricity market launched today by the EU Commission.
In the text, Brussels strengthens long-term fixed-rate contracts for renewables and low-emission sources, including nuclear, and expands the possibility of choice on tariffs for consumers.
On the other hand, the decoupling between the price of gas and electricity indicated by President Ursula von der Leyen in recent months is not envisaged.
