(ANSA) - BLANTYRE, MARCH 17 - Cyclone Freddy, of exceptional duration, has killed more than 400 people in southern Africa, the vast majority of them in Malawi, where the toll is worsening by the hour, while the hope of finding survivors dwindles increasingly thin.
Freddy has struck the region twice in just a few weeks, killing 73 people in Mozambique, 17 in Madagascar and 326 in Malawi along the way, according to the latest report released in the evening by the president of this poor country.
The number of displaced people has more than doubled, exceeding 183,000 in Malawi.
