ING customers should do really important banking transactions before Friday evening.

Because from then on nothing works anymore.

Munich – ING customers should have completed the urgent transfer, the overdue change to the standing order or other important online banking transactions before late Friday evening.

After that, online banking will not be available for a certain period of time, the direct bank announces on its website.

Millions of customers cannot access online banking for hours

The reason for the hour-long no-go is maintenance work that the company will carry out as scheduled.

For around 15 hours, neither internet banking nor the ING app “Banking to go” will be available to around nine million customers.

Furthermore, trading in shares and other securities is not possible during the specified period.

ING Germany informs that it will carry out scheduled service work on its system.

The maintenance work is scheduled from 03/24/2023 from around 11:00 p.m. to 03/25/2023 around 2:00 p.m.

During the night of March 24th to 25th, 2023 we will carry out scheduled service work on our systems.

Internet banking and banking via the app are therefore not available from 11:00 p.m. today until around 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.

We ask for your understanding.

Millions of customers cannot access online banking - but their security is at stake

"So that our more than 9 million customers can always rely on their internet banking and the Banking to go app, we regularly put the technology to the test and develop new functions," the company informs.

As a rule, there would be three bank-wide business releases per year, in which a large number of technical changes in the bank systems and databases (backend) would go live.

During these complex adjustments in the backend, the frontend - internet banking and the banking app - is also not available.

The measures are necessary in order to be able to guarantee data security at all times in the future and to continue to be state-of-the-art.

However, so that customers are affected as little as possible by the inconveniences, they take place at night.

No online banking - but what about paying with a smartphone?

Good to know for the millions of ING customers: Payment by card or smartphone (Apple Pay or Google Pay) is still possible during the business release.
