(ANSA) - TEHRAN, 03 APR - Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi has accepted the invitation from the Saudi king Salman bin Abd al-Aziz Al Saudd to visit Riyadh.
"King Salman invited the president and there was a positive response to this invitation. We wish good things can happen," Iran's First Vice President Mohammad Mokhber said, as Mehr reports.
On March 10, Iran and Saudi Arabia reached an agreement in China to restore diplomatic ties that had broken down in 2016 after an attack by fundamentalists on the Saudi embassy in Tehran to protest the execution of a Shiite preacher in Riyadh.
As part of the process of normalizing relations, Iran and Saudi Arabia have agreed to soon reopen the embassies in their respective countries that had been closed following the crisis.
