(ANSA) - BRUSSELS, APRIL 03 - The EU agency for the cooperation between energy regulators (Acer) has launched the new daily reference index for the value of liquefied natural gas (LNG).
The introduction of the alternative benchmark to the Amsterdam TTF is part of the EU regulation which also includes the price cap, adopted last December after lengthy negotiations.
With the new index, the EU intends to better reflect the new reality of the gas markets, guaranteeing "greater transparency" against speculation.
The new daily benchmark will take various indicators as a reference, such as the price of LNG for 'delivery ex-ship' and the prices of TTF futures.
