(ANSA) - VERONA, 04 APR - One is the Italian sailing ship known by all navies as "the most beautiful ship in the world", the other the international event of reference for tricolor wine.
From July the Amerigo Vespucci and Vinitaly will set sail together to promote the excellence of Made in Italy, with a world tour that will stop in the main cities of all continents.
The announcement was made this morning by Defense Minister Guido Crosetto, on a visit to the 55th edition of Vinitaly, scheduled until tomorrow at the Verona Fair.
"Companies have asked us to help bring Italy's image abroad - said the minister - and now the Government will do so also through the Ministry of Defence. From 1 July, for two years, the Amerigo Vespucci will be engaged in a training campaign that will tour the world, with stops on every continent where we will also present the best of Made in Italy.In
this project, Veronafiere, with Vinitaly, will accompany us on the most famous training ship of the Italian Navy, helping to promote the excellence of the nation beyond our borders".
Vinitaly brings together over 4,000 wine companies in Verona these days, representing a supply chain which in Italy has a turnover of over 31 billion euros, is the first active item in the national trade balance and in 2022 totaled almost 8 billion in exports.
