Martin Suter "Melody": About the book

The protagonist of Martin Suter's new novel is the highly respected Dr.

Peter Stotz.

In the meantime he has reached an impressive age, has gained a lot of life experience and is seriously ill and is in danger of dying.

Before he dies, he hires the unemployed Tom, who is dependent on gainful employment after his father's suicide.

The lawyer should administer his estate.

This only includes the background ordering of papers and memorabilia.

Superficially, his field of activity consists of drinking with Stotz and listening to his life story.

It quickly becomes clear that the focus is neither on the military or political career nor on Peter Stotz's success and wealth.

Rather, every story told revolves around the love of his life - Melody.

Tom gets to the bottom of the truth with Stotz' great-niece Laura and takes the readers on an exciting first-class journey to different places through different decades, where new secrets are always revealed.

Because in "Melody" too, the author managed to surprise me again and again and to incorporate unexpected twists in the story.

Without spoilers, one can probably reveal that while reading you can experience a roller coaster ride of curiosity and unbearable tension, compassion and sadness as well as anger and reconciliation.

Literally to the last page, nothing is as it first seemed.

There is hardly a comparable author who writes such exciting novels that they could easily pass as a crime novel or thriller.

Speaking of which, do you already know all the books by Sebastian Fitzek?

Vincent Kliesch's works also provide exciting entertainment.
