Buckingham Palace confirmed on Tuesday that responsibilities had been entrusted to the eldest son of Prince William and Kate Middleton, on the day of his grandfather's coronation, May 6 in London.

On May 6, all eyes will be on London for a historic event: the coronation of Charles III at Westminster Abbey, in front of more than 2,000 handpicked guests and millions of viewers.

As you might expect, Prince George will play a very special role.

He will thus become the youngest future king of England to play a leading role at a coronation.

Buckingham Palace (finally) revealed it on Tuesday, April 4: at the age of nine, the eldest son of Prince William and Kate Middleton will be one of the king's four pages of honor.

His mission: to accompany his grandfather through the nave of Westminster Abbey.

Indeed, Charles and his wife Camilla will wear heavy coats with a long tail, which will have to be worn.

Fortunately, Prince George will be able to count on the help of three other pages, well known to the Crown and whose names have been communicated by Buckingham.

They are Lord Oliver Cholmondeley, 13, son of former Lord Grand Chamberlain David Cholmondeley, 7th Marquess of Cholmondeley, and Rose Hanbury;

Nicholas Barclay, 13, grandson of Sarah Troughton, Lord-Lieutenant of Wiltshire, who was lady-in-waiting to the Duchess of Kent from 1990 to 2000;

and Ralph Tollemache, 12, son of Charles' godson, Edward Tollemache.

For her part, Camilla will also have the right to four pages of honor: her grandsons Gus and Louis Lopes, the 13-year-old twins of her daughter Laura Lopes;

his grandson Freddy Parker Bowles, 12, son of Tom Parker Bowles;

and her grand-nephew Arthur Elliot, 11.

Camilla will become “queen”

This announcement comes as we learned a few weeks ago that Camilla will be known as "queen", and no longer "queen consort", after her coronation and that of King Charles III, on May 6.

Ordinarily, tradition dictates that the title of "queen consort" is given to the wife of a king.

That of “queen” is, meanwhile, reserved for women who have inherited the status of monarch through their lineage, like Elizabeth II, crowned after the death of her father, King George VI.

However, if the titles of queen and queen consort are indeed different, the wife of King Charles III should be called “Queen Camilla” during the reign of the king, for the sake of simplification.

Just like the mother of Elizabeth II, wife of King George VI, was in her time.
