Bank of Italy, inflation expected to fall to 6.4% over 12 months

Expectations on consumer price inflation fell over all time horizons, standing at 6.4% over 12 months and 5.3 and 4.8% over 2-year and 3- and 5-year horizons respectively, according to the 'Survey on inflation and growth expectations ... (ANSA)


(ANSA) - ROME, 06 APR - Expectations on consumer price inflation have fallen over all time horizons, settling at 6.4% over 12 months and at 5.3 and 4.8% over time horizons respectively in 2 years and between 3 and 5 years, according to the Survey on inflation and growth expectations for the first quarter of 2023 by the Bank of Italy.

"In the last year, the prices charged by companies - says the publication - have continued to grow at a rapid pace but, for the first time since the end of 2020, they are expected to slow down in the next 12 months in all sectors, with the exception of residential construction".

Firms' assessments of the general economic situation have become less unfavourable.

    Moreover, assessments of worsening investment conditions remain higher than those of improvement, but the balance has become much less negative than in the previous survey.

While "the accumulation of capital would continue in 2023 and would be associated with an expansion of employment in the next three months".
