Prince Harry
will attend the coronation of
King Charles III
alone, it was reported today (Wednesday) on the BBC.
Meghan Markle
will be absent from the event, and will remain in the United States with her children
Archie
and
Lilibet
.
This will be the first time Harry has met his family since the publication of his sensational book, so it's safe to say the event will be awkward, to say the least.
Markle's decision to stay in the United States came amid tensions with family members, which culminated last September at the funeral of
Queen Elizabeth II
.
Kate Middleton
, the wife of
Prince William
, was quoted as saying to those close to her that meeting the couple was "one of the hardest things I've ever had to do."
Daniela Elser, an expert on the royal house, told the "Mirror" that Harry and Meghan will not be the most welcome guests at the event: "They will be surrounded by family members who boycott them, except for a cousin or two. All these moments will be documented from every angle," explained Elser and added " Apart from a cold shoulder, they will receive the treatment of inferior celebrities."
