The Intergroup of guarantors is born in Parliament.
The idea comes from the responsible for Justice of Action, Enrico Costa, who wrote a letter to the parliamentarians of all the groups to invite them to join this "meeting and discussion place for those who, despite having different political affiliations, paths and individual sensitivities they share and cultivate the guarantor culture".
It is a question of creating a "free zone in which to meet which, in the plurality of views, boasts a strength and not a limit, for anyone who considers the right of defense, the presumption of not guilty, the due process, the conception of criminal law as an extrema ratio, essential and indispensable pillars of our democracy".
This intergroup "will also be a venue open to the involvement and contribution of experts from the legal profession, the judiciary and academia".
"A platform", in short, "through which to elaborate studies and documents to be translated into practice, for whoever wishes, in the exercise of their parliamentary mandate and to be submitted in any case to the institutions and civil society".
The intergroup will have to unite "all the deputies and senators animated by the conviction and sensitivity to protect and implement the constitutional principles which are the basis of the rule of law".
To date, in addition to Enrico Costa, Luciano D'Alfonso (Pd), Roberto Giachetti (Az-IV), Dario Iaia (FdI), Ylenia Lucaselli (FdI), Marco Lacarra (Pd), Maurizio Lupi (Nm ), Riccardo Magi (+Eu), Simonetta Matone (Lega), Giorgio Mulè (FI), Pietro Pittalis (FI), Filiberto Zaratti (AVS).
