State benefits: How much money do severely disabled people get?

In case of doubt, someone with a severe disability can no longer earn enough money to make a living.

Then there is support from the state.

Frankfurt – With a severely handicapped pass you get financial support from the state.

State subsidies are intended to compensate for the fact that a person with a disability can no longer work full-time;

or is not successful due to lack of inclusion in the labor market.

This affects both people with disabilities and parents of disabled children.

These subsidies can be, for example, benefits or tax relief, but severely disabled people can also receive money from the state.

Up to 800 euros per month are possible.

The severely handicapped ID card: The benefits in kind depend on the code

People with a disability usually also have a severely disabled person's pass.

But: In order to be able to take advantage of the relief from the state, the disability must be officially documented.

There is an ID card for this, which also states the disability in degrees and the marks, the letters on the back of the ID card, of the disability.

This is what the letters (marks) on the severely disabled pass stand for:

• G - Impaired mobility

• aG – extraordinary walking disability

• Bl - Blind

• Gl—Deaf

• Tbl – deaf-blind

• H - Helpless

• B – entitles you to take an accompanying person or dog with you

• 1 Kl – 1st class accommodation required

• war damaged

• EB – Eligible for compensation

• VB – entitled to a pension

• HS – Severely visually impaired

• T – Eligible to participate in the special transport service

• RF – Reduction on broadcasting fee

If the severely disabled person's pass also contains the mark "RF", the owner of the pass is entitled to a reduction in the broadcasting fee.

The “B” sign, for example, allows accompanying persons to travel by train free of charge, while the severely disabled receive a discount.

Depending on the federal state, blind people receive blind money or assistance for the blind.

The total varies from country to country.

In addition, parents of disabled children receive child benefit for longer.

Budget and citizen's allowance: Severely disabled people receive these financial benefits

In addition, people with disabilities are entitled to a so-called personal budget.

This can be either in kind or a monetary value, depending on what services the person concerned wants to receive.

According to

the amount of the personal budget is in most cases between 200 and 800 euros.  

Severely disabled people can get their personal budget from their respective payers, such as the nursing care insurance fund, the health or pension insurance fund, the pension office, the youth welfare office or the social welfare office.

In addition, severely disabled people can benefit from the citizen's allowance if they are able to work but need help.

Basic security in the event of reduced earning capacity or a pension without deductions due to severe disability are also options if the salary from a job is not enough to live on.
