The 49-euro ticket is valid from May 1st and has been available for purchase for several weeks.
The successor to the 9-euro ticket makes it possible to use all means of local public transport nationwide.
The Deutschlandticket is available as a subscription that can be canceled monthly via an app on a mobile phone or as a chip card.
With a trick you can also buy individual tickets.
The ticket is financed jointly by the federal and state governments.
For users of public transport, this means significant savings and flexibility when traveling by train.
Changes in May: The Corona-Warn-App is preparing for sleep mode
The functions of the Corona-Warn-App will also be restricted from May.
First, no new QR codes will be generated for events.
From June, the app will even be in sleep mode, reports the federal government.
The reason for this is the increased immunity of the population and a stable infection situation.
The need for contact tracing would no longer apply and the aim is to return to public life without corona measures.
In addition, the app was being used by fewer and fewer users; at the end of last year, only 37 percent of the population were using the Corona warning app.
The minimum wage for nursing professions will change in May – for the first time this year
Good news for the more than one million people in Germany who work in care, because the minimum wage for care professions is increasing.
This is the first of two wage increases, with the second set to follow in December, according to the Health Ministry.
This is how the salary should increase:

But there is not more money for everyone in May, so some have to dig deeper into their pockets, for example Vodafone customers.
Vodafone is the first Internet provider in Germany to increase its prices for existing customers.

In May there are not only changes, but also holidays - and a coronation
May 2023 is not only a month full of changes, but also a month full of events and holidays.

Street festivals and events are also to take place on the following two days, for which people in the United Kingdom will even be given a one-time additional non-working holiday on Monday, May 8th.

In some federal states there is even another public holiday in May, in Brandenburg it is the only federal state that Pentecost Sunday on May 28th is also a public holiday.

For May, "the weather models give little hope of stable spring weather," said weather expert Dominik Jung.
