UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres said he will send emergency and humanitarian aid coordinator Martin Griffiths to Sudan "immediately" in response to the "unprecedented" situation in the country, where clashes continue.
"The scale and speed of events in Sudan are unprecedented," spokesman Stephane Dujarric said in a statement, saying he was "extremely concerned" and calling on "all parties" to protect civilians and allow them to flee the fighting.
