(ANSA) - ROME, MAY 03 - There are almost 260 million people who suffer from hunger in the world.
In just one year, in fact, those who have been affected by 'severe food insecurity' have gone from 21.3% in 2021 to 22.7% in 2022 with an increase of 1.4%.
58 countries and territories involved, compared to 193 million people across the 53 countries in 2021, with a further increase for the fourth consecutive year.
This is stated in the 2023 FAO-UN-EU Food Programme.
Even in 2022, conflicts were the main cause of food crises, overcome, however, in 27 countries, by economic shocks that affected 83.9 million people.
