Disney announced on Tuesday the launch in 2024 of a
new tourist experience
in Colombia that will allow travelers

, an adventure through the cultural diversity and scenic beauty of this nation.
Adventures by Disney
, which offers guided family group vacations to national and international destinations,
proposes a trip to the country that inspired the
Disney film "Encanto", which tells the peculiar story of the Madrigals, a Colombian family that lives in the mountains and in which all its members -except one, Maribel- have special powers.
In this eight-day, seven-night guided adventure, the film comes alive with a visit to the
historic center of Bogotá
and the
Paloquemao market
, as well as a tour of
Salento
and the
Cocora Valley

Schumacher stressed that it is "an authentic travel experience that celebrates this incredible destination" and that it also includes a
walk through the dry forest near Proyecto Tití
, an organization dedicated to the preservation of the cotton-top tamarin, an endangered species.
In fact, the company points out in the statement, it was the rich
biodiversity of Colombia
that determined the magical ability of Antonio, one of the protagonists of the film, who has the power to communicate with animals.
Travelers will enjoy at each stage of the trip "the
taste of local cuisine
and discover the unique characteristics and beauty of this destination in Latin America."
Reservations for this new Disney destination can be made starting next May 12.

An animated trip around the
country
Encanto premiered in November 2021, and in addition to an animated story, it was an invitation
to get to know different aspects of Colombia
, from its natural beauty and architecture to its typical gastronomy, traditions, and history.
And although the narrative takes place in a fictitious place, several elements of real and tourist areas can be recognized.
For example, the Madrigal house, the epicenter of history, is
inspired by three cities
.
The creative team took about two years to design it, since they had to take into account many details, such as the balconies and exterior colors, which reflect the architecture that characterizes the old town of Cartagena de Indias, one of the tourist destinations par
excellence
. from the country.

The buildings of Salento
were also taken into account
, where the oldest settlement of the
Pasaje Cultural Cafetero
is located .
There the houses stand out for their colors and are made of bahareque, a mixture of reeds, wood and earth, reminiscent of the way it was built years ago.
As in Cartagena, its balconies are usually full of potted flowers.
Another source of inspiration was
Barichara
, considered the most beautiful town in Colombia and declared a National Monument in 1978 for being an architectural testimony of the conquest.
In addition, each room in the house of the protagonists represents a region of the country, such as the
Chocó Tropical Forest
, which is characterized by its biodiversity and natural beauty.
