Tajani, Italy protagonist of a process of European unity ++ 'After the war, the EU will have to confront the global giants' ROME (ANSA) - ROME, 04 MAY - "For the Italian government there are two polar stars. Relations transatlantic and Europe. We are a founding country, we want to be protagonists in the construction of a path that sees all peoples united to face the great geopolitical challenges together".
This was stated by Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani at the The State of the Union conference, organized by the European University Institute of Fiesole (Eui).
Tajani underlined that "when the war is over we will have giants, the USA, China, India, Russia itself, to deal with"
"Europe cannot become a major player if it remains seen as a variable and temporary sum of national moods and interests and therefore, by definition, a perennially unstable structure".
This was stated by Renaud Dehousse, president of the European University Institute of Fiesole (Florence), opening the 2023 edition of the European conference The State of the Union, which today will see the participation, among others, of Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani.
The conference is entitled 'Building Europe in times of uncertainty'.
"Let me say - explained Dehousse - that this title could not be more timely. No one, I think, can question the fact that we are going through a very uncertain period, with war, climate change, the extraordinary development of the
artificial intelligence, which are changing the way we live.
As a reaction, European countries sometimes seem tempted to go it alone, but they are immediately confronted with a simple reality: alone they only count up to a certain point".
