(ANSA) - MILAN, 05 MAY - "There will be some remedial measures, I hope that France will decide who should do it, I hope they will distance themselves. But yesterday's press release was not enough, it was very lukewarm".
Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani said on the sidelines of the FI convention in Milan.
"The disappointment of the French government is understandable, but the offenses were so strong that they deserved an answer - he added -. Darmanin did everything wrong with that intervention, because it was meaningless and did not answer the truth. Italy is doing everything to address the issue migration but European and UN action is needed".
"It seems to me that there was a distance from the Foreign Minister and also from the French government. But the problem of the offense and gratuitous insult remains, it was a sort of stab in the back".
This was stated by the Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Antonio Tajani on the sidelines of the Forza Italia convention in Milan.
"I am a great friend of France but as Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister I cannot accept that my homeland is offended for no reason", he concluded.
