Each diocese in France has an exorcist priest. If many think that this function refers to a reality of another age, it is not. How does an exorcist look at the romantic figure staged by cinema? Working in the diocese of Strasbourg, Father Alain Donius gives his testimony, very far from Hollywood.
THE FIGARO. - What do you think of the image of the exorcist conveyed by cinema?
Father Alain DONIUS. - Cinema, which is a reflection of society, offers a distorting mirror of the reality of our charge. I observe that the virtual world, all these social networks and screens are scary. Evil is introduced through seduction. My job is to find the flaw through which evil has entered the person, so that eventually I can bring it out through that same flaw.
