On the occasion of International Museum Day, which falls today (Tuesday), dozens of museums across the country will be opened to the general public free of charge. There will also be a variety of activities inspired by the chosen annual theme - "Museums, Sustainability and Welfare", as well as tours and trainings, workshops, and more.
International Museum Day is celebrated annually around the world in order to increase public awareness of the importance of museums' contribution to society, and to make the fields of science, art, architecture, history and cultural heritage accessible to the general public.
"We are happy and excited about the great response from both the public and the museums," Museum Association Chairwoman Raz Samira told Israel Hayom. "This year in particular there is a very large nationwide distribution, from small to large museums, including galleries and museums in the periphery. Everyone can find what suits him and interests him: art, science, nature, archaeology, heritage. This response makes us happy and shows the cultural resilience of our country."
