He is the most famous decorator of Anglo-Saxon cinema. French cinema had Alexandre Trauner (1906-1993). The British had Ken Adam (1921-2016). Everyone remembers the famous "War Room" from Stanley Kubrick's film Doctor Strangelove, which he designed in 1963 and which Steven Spielberg said was the "best set in the history of cinema".

Under the aegis of Taschen Publishing, Christopher Frayling, former director of the British Film Institute, has orchestrated for almost a decade a book that pays tribute to the titanic work of this genius decorator who marked the history of cinema.
