Since love is known to go through the stomach, there is a small gift from the kitchen. These sweet Mother's Day hearts made of puff pastry are quick and easy to make with few ingredients and are perfect if you don't have a gift idea yet. If your mom is already sweet enough and is rather happy about savory snacks, then an onion jam with balsamic vinegar is guaranteed to ensure a high level at the next feast. Here's how to do it:

You only need a few ingredients:

  • 1 pack (270 g) puff pastry on the refrigerated shelf
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • Jam of choice (e.g. raspberry)
  • 100 g mascarpone
  • 2 tablespoons of sugar
  • In addition:
  • Heart cookie cutters in different sizes

The preparation is very simple:

  • Preheat the oven to 200 °C convection.
  • Unroll the puff pastry. For a sweet Mother's Day heart, prick two hearts out of the dough with the large cookie cutter.
  • Then use the smaller cookie cutter to cut out the middle of one of the two hearts.
  • Place the big hearts without a hole on a baking tray lined with baking paper. Brush with the beaten egg.
  • Put some jam in the middle of the hearts. Place the second heart with the hole on top. Press the edges down with a fork and close tightly.
  • Brush with egg again.
  • Bake for 10 minutes until golden brown and leave to cool completely.
  • Mix mascarpone and sugar and place in a piping bag. Decorate the Mother's Day hearts with the mascarpone cream.
  • Give it away and say THANK YOU, MOM. She will be delighted. Absolutely!
