The new exhibition of the traveling museum "Zumo" will open in Acre • "It deals with the aspiration to be a safe escape from reality, but also reflects its complexities critically"

The exhibition "Ziff Inn" of the traveling museum "Zumo" will open tomorrow in Acre and will deal with the implications of tourism, national and private identity, and the connection between material and creation. It will be spread over two floors in an abandoned building near the city's central bus station.

"Zumo arrives in Acre at a particularly significant and symbolic point in time – exactly two years after the events of May 2021. The conflagration that broke out in the city is still felt, and the embers underground are still whispering. The Ziff Inn and Zumo's action in the city do not seek to mend the rifts, nor do they pretend to suggest ways to live together. We do seek to be a hostel for a different thought and a slightly different approach. An approach where everyone is equal, responsibly and rightfully. An approach where the door is open to everyone," says Milena Gitzin Adiram, the exhibition's director and curator.

Does the reality of Israel 2023 resonate into the work?
"We are coming to Acre on the verge of a boiling point in Israeli society. The legal reform and the widespread protest that erupted after its introduction cracked the most basic foundations that held the various components of society together. Ostensibly, this is not a time for art; This is not the time for designer inns and the discussion of disappearing natural resources.

"But we want to take responsibility – independent and civic – and offer a more open basis to where we are in common. We have been fighting, now and ever since, for the future of the society in which we raise our children and create our own. This is an exhibition that deals with the aspiration to be a safe escape from reality, while at the same time reflecting its complexities critically."
