How to choose the right projector screen?
There are different points to consider when investing in a projection screen. Here are the most important ones:
- The size of the screen: it depends on the distance you have compared to your video projector. Indeed, depending on the distance between the projector and the screen, the projected image diagonal will not be the same. You don't need a 120-inch diagonal model if you can only project a 95-inch image, so take the time to measure that point.
- Fixation: if you are renting, you may not want to make holes in the walls or ceiling! The solution is therefore to opt for a tripod screen or for a canvas that you can stretch without making holes. If you are a homeowner, then you can invest in a model with a motor, which requires drilling.
- The material: if you want to use your video projector screen outdoors, opt for a "tarpaulin" model that is weather resistant. For indoor use, a more traditional canvas or fabric screen does the trick. Preferably, choose a reference with black edges and back, which absorbs light and avoids image duplication during projection.
How to project the image on a video projector?
There is nothing really rocket science about using a video projector screen. The most important thing is to install it at a good distance from the projector, to ensure a good size image, without distortion. Ideally, close the shutters or opt for blackout curtains to enjoy darkness that optimizes the sharpness and brightness of the image. You are then ready to enjoy your Home Cinema experience!
