7 vs. Wild: Jürgen's application goes through the roof – pensioner becomes wildcard highlight

7 vs. Wild has another really hot contender for a wildcard. Pensioner Jürgen not only inspires the spectators, even Fritz is convinced.

Magdeburg – This year, 7 vs. Wild is entering its third season and it feels like half of Germany wants to participate. Since the announcement of the next edition of the survival event, applications for the wildcards on YouTube have been piling up. However, only a few of them become serious favorites, but there is only room on the plane to America for two winners. At the forefront of the race for the wildcards is now a candidate who calls himself a "quota pensioner". Jürgen, as his real name is, inspires Fritz Meinecke and the fans alike.

7 vs. Wild: Jürgen applies for wildcard – marathon runner, Atlantic crosser, grandpa

This is the application: Jürgen has been running the bushcraft.light channel on YouTube for several years now. He is mainly active there in terms of bushcraft, survival and relaxed outdoor adventures, to date he has accumulated 2,320 subscribers. The 64-year-old Berliner worked for the police for 33 years, but is now retired. Nevertheless, he still has one great adventure on his list, namely a release in North America. That's where the application for 7 vs. Wild comes in handy.

In his video, Jürgen shows that he has already internalized everything necessary for outdoor survival. Before he even says a word, he catches and prepares a fish over an open fire, later he goes swimming with clothes on as a mini-challenge for his application at an outside temperature of about 4 degrees.

Retired, but in top shape: It is no coincidence that Jürgen is so capable and hardened in dealing with nature. The pensioner actually has it more than just as thick as a fist behind his ears. In the video, he explains some of his previous experiences with living in the fresh air and shares some of his greatest sporting achievements:

• Jürgen has been enthusiastic about nature since his youth and learned early on to build his own Schelter. Today, he still regularly sleeps in the fresh air.
• 10 years ago, Jürgen crossed the Atlantic in a sailboat.
• For 6 years Jürgen has been doing a 100km march once a year, he has also taken part in various marathons and canoe tours.

Enthusiasm among Fritz and fans: With almost 200,000 views (as of May 12), Jürgen's application video is already one of the most-viewed applications for a wildcard. Not only does his video make the rounds, but the reactions of the viewers are also extremely positive. "Fritz, PLEASE take him for the wildcard" or "You would be an enrichment for any outdoor format" is already the message in the comments. Some even wish for a team with the 7 vs. Wild applicant monkey on bike.

In the days since Jürgen published his application, even Fritz Meinecke became personally aware of him. In the livestream on Twitch, he watched the application video for 7 vs. Wild and was visibly amazed himself. Especially at the mention of the Atlantic crossing, the streamer literally made big eyes – a rare phenomenon. With his dry Berlin humour, Jürgen was even able to get a few laughs out of Fritz.

There are still a few weeks to go before the decision is made, but some favorites have already accumulated for the wildcards of 7 vs. Wild Season 3. We wish Jürgen and all other applicants every success.
