"Our societies have become fully aware of the dramatic effects caused by climate change that require us all to radically rethink the foundations of our life, economic and productive systems. Added to this was the senseless aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine that also made us fully aware of the strategic value of energy resources". This was stated by the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, speaking at the University of Science and Technology in Trondheim.
"Achieving security and independence - he added - does not mean, therefore, relying exclusively on traditional energy sources, failing in the commitment to the fight against climate change. The change of pace must be about innovation, not just changing supply routes and suppliers. We need a new paradigm, we need to have the ambition to be in the leading group that drives change, rather than in the tail group aimed at administering a past in exhaustion. We need to accelerate the green transition."
