Martha Stewart, 81 years old on the cover of Sports Illustrated

(ANSA) - NEW YORK, MAY 15 - Martha Stewart at 81 years old on the cover of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit. The famous American television presenter, class of '41, considered the queen of lifestyle, has therefore made history by becoming the oldest model to end up on the summer issue of the magazine dedicated to costumes. Stewart took the record away from Maye Musk, mother of Elon Musk, chosen as a model at 74 last year.
"I'm usually motivated by money," she said, "but this time I was motivated to show people that a woman my age can still look beautiful, feel good. I thought this was a historic thing and so I really had to look beautiful."
Stewart wears a white costume with a gold cover-up and is in a sitting pose.
"For middle-aged or older women," Holly Thomas, a researcher and professor of medicine at the University of Pittsburg, told Yahoo Life, "it's inspiring to see someone in that age group represented at newsstands, on supermarket shelves. It's different than seeing her on the cover of Vogue wearing a dress... The SportsIllustrated Swimsuit edition holds a special place in the psyche of Americans when it comes to ideals of beauty."
