Giorgetti, 'Resilient Italy, moderately positive picture'

(ANSA) - MILAN, MAY 16 - "We are going through a complex and rapidly evolving period, but our economy is showing remarkable resilience". Thus the Minister of the Economy, Giancarlo Giorgetti, in his opening greeting of the Salone delRisparmio 2023. "Despite the many difficulties, the economic picture is moderately positive", adds Giorgetti, citing "the encouraging result of the GDP of the first quarter (+0.5%), among the best in the Euro area, which surprised those who expected a different result". "The good health of our economy is also evidenced by the good performance of the labour market, which has shown steady growth in employment."
"In recent months, the government has adopted a prudent and responsible approach to ensure continuity of the recovery. Public finances have been stressed in recent years to cope with repeated crises but the climate of confidence that is perceived suggests that we are on the right track", said the minister, adding that "the government wants to repay this trust by giving concrete answers".
"Savings can be very valuable to support the development of the economy", underlined Giorgetti, highlighting that this thirteenth edition of the annual event of Assogestioni represents "an important opportunity for discussion and reflection on the prospects of asset management". (ANSA).
