(ANSA) - NAPLES, 16 MAY - The Mediterranean Diet has also been recognized in 2023 as the best in the world, yet only 13% of Italians follow it. This is what emerged from a study by Crea Alimenti e Nutrizione, published in the scientific journal Frontiers in Nutrition and based on a sample of 2869 people. It is in fact important that the indications are respected, represented by the food pyramid, which sees vegetables and fruit at the base and only meat and sweets at the top.

Today, unfortunately, these good habits have received many contaminations, with an increase in the consumption of industrial products. The "contemporary" Mediterranean diet has many differences compared to the classic, with an increase in proteins of animal origin (49.6 grams per day against 28.3 of the traditional), animal fats (37.8 grams per day against 20.1 grams per day), saturated fats (25.0 out of 15.8 grams per day) and cholesterol (305.0 milligrams per day out of 258.5). These are the data that emerged from an Italian study conducted between the Campus Biomedico University of Rome and the City of Charity Foundation of Taranto and published in the journal Clinical NutritionESPEN, which documented the evolution of this diet over 70 years. This and much more will be discussed from 17 to 21 May, at the Maschio Angioino in Naples, on the occasion of the second edition of the Festival of 5 colors, lakermesse dedicated to health and nutrition presented today at a press conference at the Federico II University, promoted by Associazione Pancrazio in collaboration with the Department of Agricultural Policies, the Municipality of Naples, the Federico II University and the Bambino Gesù Pediatric Hospital. Between music, shows, meetings and round tables we will discuss correct habits at the table and prevention.

"After the extraordinary first edition of the 2022 Festival in Tropea, we have decided to return with a wider kermesse, which will see its departure in Naples with the Festival of 5 colors and which will continue with the Tour of the 5 colors in Calabria with the first stage on May 25 in Cosenza - explains Maria Teresa Carpino, President of the Pancrazio Association and creator of the Festival -. The rich program includes both training and leisure moments". (ANSA).
