The Knights of the Zodiac premiered at Cartoons On The Bay

(ANSA) - ROME, MAY 16 - It will be premiered in Italian premiere, Thursday, June 1, 2023, as part of Cartoons On TheBay - International Festival of Animation, Transmedia andMeta-Arts 2023, The Knights of the Zodiac, directed by TomekBagiński. Based on the famous animated series, it brings for the first time to the big screen the saga of Saint Seiya by MasamiKurumada in live action. Now in its 27th edition, Cartoons OnThe Bay, promoted by Rai and organized by Rai Com, returns from 31 May to 4 June 2023 in Pescara, after last year's success.
Seiya - played by Mackenyu - is a stubborn street teenager who spends his time searching for his kidnapped sister and fighting for money. When he unwittingly unleashes mystical powers in one of his fights he didn't know he had, Seiya finds himself drawn into a world of saints at war, ancient magical training, and an incarnate goddess who needs his protection. To survive, he will have to embrace his destiny and sacrifice everything to take his rightful place among the Knights of the Zodiac. The film, produced by Toei Animation Productions and also starring Famke Janssen, Madison Iseman, DiegoTinoco, Mark Dacascos, Nick Stahl and Sean Bean, will be released only in theaters on 26, 27 and 28 June 2023 produced by Sony Pictures and distributed by Eagle Pictures.
Cartoons On The Bay will also feature British film director and producer Peter Lord and Israeli director and producer Ari Folman, who will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award, and Ian Mackinnon, producer and stopmotion legend, who will accept the Studio of the Year 2023 award from Studio MacKinnon & Saunders and will also be part of the festival's international jury, which will award the Pulcinella Prizes of the various categories of the competition.
