(ANSA) - ROME, MAY 20 - "Since March 10, 2021 I have had the absolute privilege of directing the Department of Public Safety, of guiding you. It's been just over two years. A period, perhaps, temporally short, but of unprecedented intensity and complexity". This was written by the Chief of Police Lamberto Giannini, in a letter to "his policemen" published on the institution's website. Next Monday, in the presence of the Minister of the Interior, Matteo Piantedosi, there will be the change ceremony at the end of which VittorioPisani, indicated by the Government, will sit at the top of the Police in place of Giannini who will become prefect of Rome.
From Monday, therefore, the letter reads, "I will take on another assignment and formally leave my beloved State Police.
It is no coincidence that I wrote 'formally' because 'policemen have been, are and will always remain'. It is a bond that lasts a lifetime and cannot be severed."
"All together - recalls Giannini - we faced the pandemic and its consequences, all the problems related to the explosion of a dramatic war conflict and I could continue to mention other events, but I just want to thank you for what you have, we did together. We have always guaranteed every service, being close to the citizens, carrying out all our activities without ever stopping, not even for a minute".
"At this moment, moved - continues the prefect - I think of the colleagues we have lost during the pandemic, of those who have been overwhelmed by the difficulties of life and of Gianni, Marino, Maurizio, Sergio and Domenico, valiant colleagues, fellow travelers fallen in the fulfillment of duty, who will always be in my heart. We are a big family, united by a long and glorious history and I am sure that you will always be able to fulfill our mission, that of 'Always being there'". (ANSA).
