Kanye West is working hard to revive his fashion brand and has appointed American Apparel founder Dov Charney as CEO, sources told The Sun.
Kenya, who found himself unemployed after making anti-Semitic remarks, chose a Jewish CEO with a deep connection to Israel. Charney's father is the well-known architect Moshe Safia, whose works include the Yad Vashem Museum and Mamilla Boulevard in Jerusalem.
Last November, the big brands he worked with, such as Adidas, Gap and Balenciaga, disavowed Kanye. West claimed at the time that he had lost "$2 billion a day" and was still facing legal battles. Although the fashion empire collapsed abruptly, Kanye is still desperately trying to keep his Yeezy brand.
A source told The Sun that West wanted Charney, who identifies as Jewish, to sail the ship. At the same time, Charney is considered one of the most controversial people in the field of fashion. At the time, he was behind the American Apparel brand, which he founded, but was fired by the board in 2014 over rumors of sexual harassment at the firm.

"All these accusations against me are nonsense, none of them have ever been proven," Charney said in an interview after his dismissal, explaining that the lawsuits against him had been closed.
"Charney is a friend of West's, a fabric supplier and also made T-shirts for West's brand that were recently unveiled at a recent intimate event. He has been by his side for years and now the two will make a comeback," the source said.
Charney will likely spend a lot of time at West's new showroom on Melrose Avenue in West Hollywood, located right next to the Adidas store.
