At the heart of the Rotunda of the Bourse de Commerce is more than a film, it is almost the reinvention of the cinematograph. The film, which takes place in two stages, rotates on the curved wall and projects the screens in pairs, like two parallel stories in which other images, other stories, are still nestled. There is something as old as primitive photography and new at the same time in this process both artisanal and spectacular. This is not really a coincidence.
In the curved gallery of the Bourse de Commerce, a series of monumental drawings tell the story of the seasons, from winter black to sakura pink (the cherry blossom in Japan), the stages of life and the memory that fades. The whole universe, ultrasensitive and delicate, of Tacita Dean, artist of drawing and film, refers to the mythological art of storytelling where every detail has its importance.
