A violent storm hit Sezze, in the province of Latina, causing flooding of some roads, with blocked cars, and countryside. Some houses in the Suso area remained isolated. The common emergency was also triggered by some landslides and the flooding of streams. The mayor of the center of the Lepini mountains, Lidano Lucidi, invited the population not to leave the house. The storm lasted just over an hour discharging about 100 mm of water. The station was also flooded, as well as numerous roads that were impassable, especially in the areas of Sezze Scalo, Sermoneta and Suso.
A landslide of vast dimensions broke off this morning along the southern slope of the SS210, at the gates of Amandola (Fermo), creating traffic problems along the Monti-Mare road. Firefighters, carabinieri, Anas personnel and municipal technicians intervened. The area had been hit in recent days by waves of bad weather, with water bombs. Currently, alternating one-way traffic is used as a precaution.
A violent wave of bad weather hit many municipalities of Southern Salento in the late morning, ruining many of the initiatives related to the celebrations of Corpus Christi. In Patù the pouring rain has destroyed in a few minutes the infiorata, the characteristic carpet of flowers, about 250 meters long, set up as a sign of devotion by the community in the main street of the village. Moments of fear were experienced at sea in Felloniche, between Torre Vado and Santa Maria di Leuca, for the formation of a marine whirlwind whose passage did not however produce damage to things and people. Thunderstorms coming to Campania. The Civil Protection of the Campania Region has issued a yellow weather alert valid from 14 to 21 on Sunday, throughout the region. Sudden and rapid thunderstorms will be possible but of particular intensity. Precipitation will in fact be characterized by rapid evolution and forecast uncertainty. The phenomena may also be accompanied, in some areas, by hail, lightning and gusts of wind. Therefore there is a hydrogeological risk for storms with ground impact phenomena such as flooding, raising of the hydrometric levels of watercourses, water flow in road locations, runoff with material transport. Landslides and rockfalls will also be possible. Due to the characteristics of this disturbance, attention must also be paid to the risk deriving from hailstorms of damage to roofs and the risk of damage to temporary structures as well as to the fall of branches or trees resulting from gusts of wind. The Civil Protection recommends the utmost attention, even in the absence of rainfall.
