Jarrosson is a young painter. Riopelle a giant of painting whose centenary is celebrated this year. So far, their only common point is to serve brilliantly - and a few decades apart - the cause of lyrical abstraction.
Another will follow this summer: they will occupy the same wall in the reception halls on the seventh floor at the Opéra Bastille. A fatal place: "It is unbearably hot in this place and even the air conditioning is unable to remedy it," says Alexander Neef, director of the Opera. At Alice Renavand's farewell on May 28, two people fainted, overwhelmed by the heat. The same one who burned the Riopelle now restored and deposited in Ottawa.
