Another 16 mass graves where followers of the so-called "sect of fasting" are presumed to be buried have been discovered in Kenya's Shakahola forest. The investigators of the Kenyan homicide squad, before digging to bring to light other victims, await autopsies on another 94 of the 336 bodies exhumed in the land owned by the controversial preacher Paul Mackenzie, who invited his followers to abstain from food and drink "in order to meet Jesus in heaven". This was reported by The Standard newspaper.
Police said the bodies were found up to three kilometres away from Mackenzie's home. Kenyan Interior Minister Kithure Kindiki said the fourth phase of exhumation will begin soon after autopsy results. Kindiki assured that the government will exhume all the bodies in Shakahola.
"There are still many mass graves and we have to finish the job. It doesn't matter how many people we have lost. We will provide the complete statistics, we will not hide the truth and we will not leave anyone dead in that cursed forest," the minister said.
