Is food from an air fryer not as healthy as assumed? A doctor knows what to do.
Who doesn't like to eat crispy fries? But you don't necessarily need a normal deep fryer for this. An air fryer cooks vegetables and meat using the hot air they contain. This way, your food will be nice and crispy and perfectly browned without having to use a lot of oil for frying. This also benefits people who want to eat a low-calorie diet. But light foods such as strawberry and asparagus salad also help you lose weight and are not so heavy on the stomach in summer.

Air fryers require less energy than a conventional stove, which is why they are often used for financial reasons. But the kitchen appliance also scores points in terms of health: unlike conventional deep fryers, air fryers use much less fat, which makes the food prepared with them much healthier. In a TikTok video, Dr Karan Rajan, a doctor with the National Health Service in the UK, has now spoken out and explained when the use of air fryers can be harmful to health.
Like non-stick pans, air fryers are coated with so-called polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS). In cancer research, these chemicals are associated with cancers such as ovarian, pancreatic, laryngeal and breast cancers. However, the medic gives the all-clear in his TikTok video: "As long as you don't plan on eating your air fryer, you'll be fine."
