"We were honored to present last year's Ruth Bader Ginsburg Award to the Queen of England, and this year we are no less excited to present our Queen of Music and Film, Barbra Streisand, an American cultural icon like no other," said Julie Opperman, chair and author of the award. "I promised Justice Ginsburg that I would help perpetuate her legacy, and that I would admit that the award bearing her name would continue to recognize strong leaders who made the world a better place. I only regret that she is not with us today to celebrate Mrs. Streisand's win," concluded the chairwoman.
