Jennifer Lopez is under attack after launching an alcoholic brand • Quite a few internet users have spoken out against the star, claiming that she is motivated by money considerations and insensitive, since she is married to Ben Affleck, who has suffered from severe alcohol addiction for decades

Besides being a shrewd singer, actress, model and businesswoman, Jennifer Lopez can now boast the title of cocktail brand owner, but as always where there is glam and money, there is also a mess.

Last week, Lopez, 53, enthusiastically updated her millions of fans in a newsletter that she was launching a new cocktail line called Delola, one that currently includes three cocktails in different flavors and gets its name from her nickname Delulah.

While Lopez showered compliments on her new business venture and boasted about how unique it is and characterizes exactly the healthy yet fun lifestyle she advocates, quite a few web surfers spoke out against the star on the grounds that she is hypocritical, motivated by money considerations, and worst of all, insensitive, since she is married to Ben Affleck, who has suffered from severe alcohol addiction for decades and has even been hospitalized several times in rehab centers in the past in an attempt to quit.

"Delulah is the fun, carefree aspect of my personality," Lopez wrote to her fans in her newsletter. "She's the part of me that allows itself to be released. She doesn't go out often," she added, "but when she does, she goes all the way for it.

She added that as she gets older, she realizes that although she works very hard, she also has a need to let go and have fun because it's an important part of a happy and balanced life for her.

The brand she created, she explained, "is light and delicious. You just have to pour it on ice and enjoy," she said. But many online were less attached to Lopez's new initiative and were quick to remind her of quotes from past interviews in which she declared that in order to maintain a healthy lifestyle she abstains from alcohol, and worse, many noted, she prides herself on launching an alcohol brand while married to an alcoholic in rehab.

"Maybe we should support small businesses struggling with the cost of living, instead of supporting celebrities who just put their name on anything that makes them extra money," one user fumed. "She doesn't drink alcohol but puts out a brand of alcohol? It just shows how much she will do anything for money," others added. "It's repulsive," a user asserted emphatically. "You don't drink and you have an alcoholic husband, and then you put your name on a brand like that? Shame." "Why don't you use your power to launch an alcohol-free brand instead and express support for your husband's fight against his alcohol withdrawal?" It's such greed"? Write others.

After realizing the intensity of the outrage the brand launch created, Lopez shared a video on Instagram on Tuesday in which she calmly tried to explain her motivation behind the brand's launch and also responded to anyone who criticized her about her drinking habits.

Lopez praised herself and the brand at length, but in between, she explained that although it is alcoholic, like her, it is "light and fun and light" and is exactly what she has always been looking for as someone who wants to enjoy some alcohol but did not find.

"So," she added, "like everything in my life that didn't exist, I created it myself," she said. Lopez also sought to emphasize that although she has stated in the past that she does not drink alcohol, this is not entirely accurate. In the past, she avoided it altogether, but today she does drink cocktails at social events in small amounts. "I don't drink to get drunk," she stressed. "I created the brand that is a healthy way to drink and fits my lifestyle." Whoever drinks it will drink it like I drink it and be just like me," she concluded.
