Today loved by the very young, from a niche phenomenon of some urban environments, it has become commercial and pop; was born in the USA, as a subgenre of hip hop, between the late nineties and early twenty-first century. The word trap in English refers to the 'trap house' which stands for 'house of traps' or a place where drugs are peddled.
