Tens of thousands of enthusiastic fans descended on Stockholm's Tele2 Stadium on Saturday to watch pop-rock icon Elton John in what is shaping up to be his last ever performance. It's believed to be the final chord of "Farewell Yellow Brick Road," the 76-year-old singer's farewell tour after nearly five decades on stage. John and his band have performed about 300 times as part of the current tour, considered one of the highest-grossing tours in history – as of last May, they have raked in more than $887 million.

The size of the stand could already be felt in the huge crowding on the subway; Young and old, men and women, locals and tourists, in casual or extravagant attire inspired by the costumes Elton John loves so much - everyone as one flocked to the international stadium in the Swedish capital to see the legend do what he does best.

"Good evening, Stockholm!" an excited John addressed the audience at the beginning of the show, "Well, that's it. I'm happy to be here to finish our farewell tour. And it better be a good show. Here it comes," he said — and launched into a powerful rendition of "I Guess That's Why They Call It The Blues."

But that was just the prelude to an evening no music lover can forget – and the sounds and sights are ahead of you. Was this really the last performance? It remains only to hope not.
