Last week, the Oscar and Golden Globe winning actor lost his 19-year-old grandson Leandro (son of his adopted daughter Derna and former star in "A Star Is Born") after he was rumored to have died from an overdose of fentanyl-infested pills.

Sources close to the 79-year-old actor, who welcomed his seventh daughter into the world in April, told the Express website that the acclaimed actor is going through a difficult time and faces bumps on a variety of fronts including legal problems, deteriorating health and now mourning the death of his beloved grandson.

"De Niro is a man who is not affected by the ups and downs of life," sources close to the actor told The Sun. "His approach to life is that emotions are for the screen and he goes out of his way to present a steady, cool persona in his daily life. He's been through a lot. But 2023 has been crazy," they said.
"The new baby, the ridiculous details that emerge in his lawsuit against his former personal assistant and now the death of his grandson. If there was ever a chance that 'Iceman' would break, it's now because it's going through a crazy storm and the year hasn't even reached the halfway point yet," they said.
