It is debatable whether or not there is religion, but reality proves that despite modernization and the liberal approach, the power and influence of the secular bloc in the State of Israel is waning. Now the docuseries "Secularism," which premiered last night (21:30) on Kan 11, does what they have not done before and explores the roots of secularism over the course of five episodes.

This is a docu-series by Anat Seltzer, Sinai Abt and Ayelet Ofarim, whose creation was co-created by the late Modi Bar-On. The series presents five episodes that constitute a historical and current journey to the roots of secularism. The program presents an in-depth look at a phenomenon that, on the one hand, shapes all of our lives and without which Israel would not have been established, and on the other hand, is taken for granted.

The series is mesmerizing, informative and in-depth, examining phenomena from the angles of religion and state to tradition and philosophy. But most of all, it preserves the legacy of the late Modi Bar-On – one of the founding fathers of secular culture.

The docuseries was prepared by his television partners, and Modi managed to participate in part of the production, so you can definitely feel his spirit hovering over the messages or being felt in Yehudit Ravitz's narration. Finally, secular people also have a historical series to be proud of.
